I have a 3 year old male pit. he's a very obedient dog with a great temperment except for the fact he pees on almost everything! i understand he's marking his territory but i would think he would get the idea when i get mad, that it's not his territory, he really is smart enough to know. He's exceptional inside the house except for a select couple of items: a garbage can, and my desk chair... not every time, but every so often i leave him alone inside, i find a puddle under the chair or on the garbage can. he also pees on the same objects outside, like a cooler and again garbage cans. again and again. i hate having to spray it away everytime and he doesnt seem to understand that it's wrong when he pees on certain things. he can pee on trees and fences all he wants, but what are some good methods to teach him to not pee on those certain ones??

I second that! I had my adult male neutered & he hasn't done that once since... He was ok before that. On occasion (like 3 times) he cocked his leg on my tv.. He hasn't made an attempt to mark anything inside since we neutered him. It really does help alot. He still marks the crap out of stuff that's outside though.

My Dog is 5 and he never ever pees in the house but goodness knows he loves to get out there and pee on trees, shrubs, car tires etc...
Sometimes a dog does regress when they are placed in a shelter situation for a while. Then you have to re-teach them to be house broken. That I do find an awful lot.
Its easy and they pick up quick though!
