around 63 days and it will help you if you have a thermometer. when it gets close to the due date, insert it in the exit path, the norm temp is 99.5 to 100.5 when the dog has a temp of 101 or higher they will have the pups within 24 hours and check to see if she looks swollen and she will start to nest that means she will start to chew stuff up and make a bed for her and her pups. ** Administrator Note: [This message has been edited by Auspetian (edited 02-06-2004).] IP: Logged |

tyed_dyed00, Aren't you a vet? It is when the temperature is 98 and below that they should start to whelp within 24 hrs. All my dogs' temperatures are 101 normally and slid down to around 100 a wk or so before whelp and 97 - 98 degrees when ready to whelp. Really big difference from what you said. Also, the exit path is the "anus" not the 'vagina' just incase someone is a bit confused. ------------------ [This message has been edited by chickee (edited 02-03-2004).] IP: Logged |
