it was on sunday,my office was closed, and i was getting ready for the superbowl, and i got a page i needed to go to the office. some one was bringing in a pit that had been hurt,i didnt know what had happend yet. so i got to the office and my tech was waiting for me,the dog hasnt arrived yet,and we were talking the tech didnt know if should have called me because of what he knew. well the dog arrived, and i could not be preped for what i saw.a 77 year old man that could hardly walk him self carring a dog that was full of blood.
the man was covered in it, he had told me that he was driving to his daughters wedding, and the car in front of him had trown something out the window,so he stoped and he seen it was a dog,and it was still alive so he brought it to me. the dog was a pit. i told the tech to call the police and they got all the info they needed from the old man, even the license #.i spent 6 hours repairing the dog.some one had used it to fight and when it could not fight anymore they threw it away.
i stayed with it until 2:00 am and so did my techs i had never seen such devotion in my staff and in the dog, about 1:00 the dog licked my hands and tried to stand, we are starting to call him thrash,he was thrashed up,im not a vet that is concerned with how much things cost but this dog has cost about 2,000 to fix so far, the old man had stayed with the dog also and what he had said to me was that his daughters 1st marrage was enough for him and this was her 4, so seeing that the dog pulled through was more important to him and he was alittle worried that he was going to going to have to pay the bills for us fixing the dog,so i told him that im 25 and i have a long career ahead of me and if the dog pulls through and he keeps it, ill pay for everything, this dog for being tore up it was still pretty, and i also told him for stoping for him i will give him free vet service for the dog, for the life of the dog, lol so i hope it lives but not to be 60 years old,i dont know if i can even afford that lol

Oh My What a wonderful story. Hats off to the elderly man and you as well!!!
This story SHOULD get MEDIA ATTENTION!!! First the elderly gentleman who believed enough in the dog to help out and you for saving the dogs life and offering him free vet services.
Please I urge you to call your local media stations as well as newspapers and get this story out!!!
This is what people need to see the abuse these dogs endure!!!
Also, if you contact your local humane societies I am sure they can get the story out and also get donations to help the dog.
Can you send a pic?
What did you name your new patient?
Good luck and Thanks enough for caring!!!
I am sure the dog is VERY VERY GRATEFUL AND HAPPY!!!!!
Thank the elderly man from your e-mail pit bull advocate friends too!!!!!!!
PS Aren't you glad the Pats won? LOL

Hello,I just read this heartbreaking, but amazing story,Thank God for that elderly man who cared enough to get himself involved, and to you and your vet techs for working so hard to save this poor pitbulls life, when his ignorant and cold hearted owners had no more use for him.I cannot understand how somebody could do something so cruel and inhumane to an animal.I have two pitbulls myself, and i will protect them till my dying day,I am sure they would do the same for me.Pitbulls have such a horrible reputation, yet look at what they are put through and still have the abilty to love and be a wonderful pet,i would say that pibulls are one of the most stable and loyal type of breeds that there are.Things like this happen more than people realize, but the media usually focuses on all the bad things the dogs do,rather than the cold hearted people that destroy these dogs lives, and cause them to be mean.Any living thing that was put through something like this would hate people forever, but pitbulls have such a strong ability to love and try to please their owner, this dog will pull through this and be thankful, and a wonderful lifelong companion!Thank you once again for saving this dog, when he had nothing but a lifeless body and owners that just threw him away like a piece of trash.

i have the latest news, on crash and the old man, the old man went out and baught everything one store could offer i think he had one of my vets tech outside for about an hour and a half asking questions about the breed i had to shoo him off because the man is so excited,,, i feel bad for him though because the dog is so beat up and will be scared for life, i feel kind of torn, because i look at the dog and it has pain all over in his eyes and i think will it have a full life? i look at the old man and i think he will.
crash is doing alot better today he is walking alittle and he barked that was a great sign he is also is eating for me and the old man, mainly the old man it wont eat unless he there its a crazy sight. i can tell this dog has a lot of love to give he might be able to go home soon i gave the old man this site to ask questions, because this guy can talk WOW can he talk, but now he will have somebody to talk to

Tye-Dyed

I need the address to the vet where this dog was taken care of- Saige (my dog) was in a contest that is over with in a week and so far she is in the lead by one hundred points almost. I would like the money won dedicated to helping pay for the costs of this dog! What an amazing story! Please email me.. hafkel@hotmail.com

ANGIE: For what it's worth. Please don't send your money. I do not believe this person is a vet. MAYBE, this person is hired help at a vet's office and he has taken the persona of the vet??? I haven't been here very long, but from the 1st post I've read from this TyeDyed person, I just cannot believe it! I'm sorry and I've held my tongue too long trying to 'be nice'.... I'm not even a vet and I give more accurate information than he/she does. geez. Plus, I can spell. (Isn't spelling a prerequisite?)

How about donating to Spindletop maybe? OR any of the rescues in your area?

OF course, this is my opinion, and you all can bash me all you want, but I just *got this feeling*

PS, what "closed" vet office on a Sunday answers calls and has techs hanging out anyway? Not in my neck of the woods. Thats why they have those expensive Emergency Vet Clinics 2 hours away (from anywhere and anyone.) lol...Seems really weird.

I will gladly listen to him IF he answers. I am not in anyway suggesting that he is not a 'lover' of this breed, per'sey. But, come on now. I asked him if he was a vet in the 'Pregnancy' thread. He never replied! He gave totally false information. Even though I had my thoughts from the 1st time I laid eyes on one of his posts, this Pregnancy thread is what did me in.

I also had a suspician on one of the first threads that I was replying to and they said they had been a vet for 3 or 4 years. I just thought well thats not hardly any vet experience, but still would have thought they would be more knowledgable about medical care. But I didn't want to start anything with them. So many people pretend to be a vet online anyway.

tyed_dyed if you are a vet u need to come and defend yourself. if you are not i dont understand how you could make up such a sad story like that. it really isnt fair to come on here pretending to be a vet. like me lots of other people on here are first time dog owners and really apriciate advise given on this site but now we will be sceptical wondering if they actually know what they are talking about. i know that the others are not saying they are vets but now it seems you made it up who is to say that some of the others even own a dog? sorry to (the others) just making a point. i hope that you really are a vet so please as i said before come back and defend yourself.

Hi Chickee, thanks for bringing this up. This is very important especially for newbies. This is why the Tyed_dyed's messages now contain the disclaimer:

** Administrator Note:
Auspet did not verify this user's claims of being a vet. Always check with your own vet before acting on any of the information/advice posted here.

As of now I don't believe Auspet has received proper verification that this person is indeed a vet. We can't express enough the importance of talking to ones vet and researching any advice given from ANY member here before taking it!

I just noticed he doesn't have anything listed for his occupation in his profile. Maybe it's just me, but, I would be really proud to list my occupation as a certified vet. (Even a vet-tech is cool in my book..)lol

Well for all of you.. I never even got a responce from anyone on this. I wouldn't send money to just anyone, I would of course find out the vet and verify that this is in fact a tue story before sending money to anyone. I agree to what you are saying Chickee. I think sometimes people lie about things like this to gain acceptancy by others. Something I done back in High school. lol. Never thought of Spindletop. Of course there aren't any rescues around my area. It is not a very large donation, I just want it to be used some place useful. Anyhow, it seems to me if this were a true story- someone would have gotten back to me if they knew that they were getting a donation.. Really made me wonder. I am not here often and do not get to read all of the messages contributed to the board, so I appreciate all of you informing me on what is really happening.

No-Way!?!
A fony, fraud, fake!?!?

Tyed Dyed:
What's Up??

What's with the story telling lies???

I had a feeling while reading his/her 1st post that he/she was'nt a DVM. It kinda looked unprofessional... I'm thinking a youg kid, or teenager.

And why the hell would a DVM come on here & tell us a story? One like that especially...

Hey, if you ever have any real medical/veterinary experience, i'd love to ask you a few things.

Remember, some of us can read-between-the-lines....

Good Luck to you Doc

ya know, if he ain't a vet, he needs to start writing novels. I haven't read all of his threads, but I did on the pregnancy one aswell....that got me wondering, but some have diffrent oppinions.
As for the "on call when the vets office is closed on Sundays"...our ver has his office phones forwareded to his cell during All afterhours, so I could see how they could have gotten a call.

But, he's ot responding. I'm not a vet, but I know my stuff. If I didn't for somereason I'd say so, but come on....don't make up stories or occupations to make friends....DO IT!!! Then you could really be proud of what you REALLY are.

I'm thinking he bailed when he knoticed his "secret" is out....

The thing about the 'pregnancy thread' was that there are NO different opinions. It's based on medical facts, not opinions. A vet, (of all people) would know at the very least what the normal temperature of a dog is! Wouldn't you think? lol
He did post again since this all happened. Did you catch it? He again, claimed being a vet. He had time to place that reply, but funny that he has not replied to any of the allegations of him NOT being a vet.

Good that the moderators are putting 'warning labels' onto his posts. Funny!

You know its sad. He really seemed to love the breed.
I would have liked him even if he cleaned toilets.
There was no need to lie about his occupation.
I am a medical secretary. Yes, folks, sorry but that is what I do for a living!!!
If people do not accept me for my values and what type of person I am inside then I don't wish to have their acceptance in the first place.
Lying just makes you untrustworthy and leaves you looking like a complete and total jackass when you get caught.
