its sad that there are people out there that are so close minded that they will hate something that they only hear about on the news. i have two pits and they are the kindest dogs i have ever had, there are myths about them and you have to remember the key word is MYTH.any dog if it is treated right will be nice there is nothing in there breed saying that they all will make good fighters, or atack dogs, if you see a pit look where it lives, the dog will 9 out 10 times it will be a product of where it lives IP: Logged |

I agree wit u a 100% because they just listen to the media that always makes the story worse than what it really is and there scared or don't like the breed IP: Logged |

It is sad but sooo true.I mean if you say you have a pitt most of the time people will act like you have a third eyeball in the middle of your forehead.I've had my oldest male for 3-years he has never bitten me or anyone in my family, yet I adopted an EVIL Jack Russell terrier from the pound. It loved me but HATED my son and my girlfriend with a passion. It would try to bite every chance it got.I guess I should feel the whole breed is psycho.Not.I've gotten to the point with some people I don't even discuss my dogs with them, not because I'm ashamed of my dogs but it saves me from wanted to knock someone out.If people were as smart as my dog the world would be great. That is a cool post Shanean, especially this part: quote: I know what you mean, I feel the same way. Yeah, JRT are REALLY psycho, beware those things are vicious and despite their small size they can do a sizable amount of damage. I know lots who bite their owners and family members some requiring stitches, but since they are not a very big breed the owners never mind. They say the dogs are their babies, or kids....lol Child attacking their parents. I guess they probably don't represent what the true breed is supposed to be like, I would never get a JRT from the shelter b/c they are their for a reason. Probably because their stupid owners were too dumb to train them and deal with them so they got tired of them tearing things up, ripping things apart, biting and messing in the house so they just dumped them off at the pound or one thier own. The breed is very intellegent and has a lot of energy, so many people fail to realize that when they get a JRT, they just want a cure little wishbone dog for their kids. They don't know they need training and lots of time and excersize. [This message has been edited by True_Pits (edited 01-22-2004).] IP: Logged |

Yup, its just the media has such an effect on people. On Murray they were showing dog attacks and an akita mauled a toddler, then when the Pit Bull story came up they said a VICIOUS Pit Bull, and all it did was bite on the hand and let go. Not that, that isn't a BIG DEAL, but its funny how the akita killed a toddler and the pit bull bit n let go but it was called vicious. Every attack I hear about they always have some bad adjective on Pit Bulls, where as all these other breeds which are reported they just say this attack or that attack. They are using subliminal media effects with the words they use. It raelly sucks. I meet people like that ALL the time, some of them are real loonys. Their poor pitties would be broken and beaten if I actually let my dog have at it. Its so annoying, they say I'm scared and try to get me going when its the otherway around. I know just about anyone of my dogs would detroy theirs but I don't need to prove something or raise my self image by using my dogs to do so. But becareful becase some of these morons will let their dog go even if you say no and tell them off, they just won't take no for an answer. IP: Logged |

Cool I love pictures of dogs. Do you only have one dog or is there more? Sorry to burst your bubble but size don't mean anything when it comes to a game dog and fighting ability. I have seen 43lbs dogs barnstormingly detroy 80-110lbs "pit bulls". Your dog would most likely find himself in the same situation. Dogs with ability are usually between 30-65lbs, those larger pits are just bred for looks, for size, color, some for conformation, catch work or weight pull, but not fighting those are very rare in large sizes and are considered freaks (when it comes to gamedogs that is). GR CH May Day was about 75lbs CW, which is HUGE when it comes to game dogs but his pit weight was 58-60lbs. Head size is also something flaunted by the kennels you see breeding for looks. The last thing a gamedog is looked for is head/neck size, head can even disavantaage a dog to have an overbearing head. And neck measurement definatly have nothing to do with fighting ability or gameness. Most of the good ones are really small dogs, some don't even look like pits at all. I was saying it in relation to their poorly bred, and even sometimes mixed pits they try to make mean and aggressive and make them trained aggressors. Some are even bigger than my dogs, nice looking big dogs but not gighters. Just a word up about the dogs. IP: Logged |

I hate how people always want their pitbulls to be aggressive because they're "fighting" dogs that is just stoopid i wouldn't ever let my cousins take cheeko for a weekend or a day because i think they would make or let him fight other dogs to get money. IP: Logged |

your right true pits i have two pits and they look really good i was only telling you how big my male is. im glad he was bred for looks becaouse he looks good i dont care how much game he has and when people look at him they think twice in coming to my house to rob me that is why i like the big neck, and he is not to big he is just cut, like he was made out of stone, he definitly has a chizzled look to him i have got alot of compliments IP: Logged |
