Hey everybody, my 2 Pit Bulls are shedding a large amount. They shed so much you would think they would be bald by now. Niether of their skin looks irritated,I haven't changed their food either. It seems that they started shedding like this when the frigid called rolled around here in New England where we live. Could the extreme cold be causing this even though they are both inside dogs? Also I have forced hot air for heat could this be a factor? Any insight would be appreciated.

i have two pits, and they shed alot also, what i have learnd was that if you add a little egg in there food it helps. not a whole lot though. when you change the temp, like you do with the blowers they cant adjust to the real temp out side or in

Tidpit, it is the weather, My lab is the same way. It is because it is so cold outside, they have developed their winter coats and then they are in the nice warm inside and it is tricking them to shed their winter coat. because of this they will probably shed much more this time of year than in spring and summer

Thanks for the response.I thought it had something to do with the weather. But it's nice to know I'm not alone. Hopefully this ends soon cause this is a pain in the you know what!

My Dogs shed too! I add a little olive oil to their food sometimes. It seems to help with dry skin.
Come to think of it? I find more and more hair in my drain hole of the tub too? Maybe I am shedding because I too live in New England?? LOL LOL PS I am so sick of this cold!!!!

Thanks for the advice. And considering the fact that I have enough hair to cover about 3 people heads, Yeah I think I'm shedding too! For the sake of my dogs and me, Let the heat wave begin!
