i have a question.
my mate has a male amstaff that is 9 months old and he is about to buy a female to start breeding with he has looked at a couple of litters to find the right one to compliment his male he looked at her pedegree papers and it says that her great great grandfather was a pure white amstaff.
my question is this a bad thing or a good thing.
my friend really likes this bitch but if the pure white ancestor is going to be a problem then he will most likely get a different amstaff.
any info will be much appreciated.

If I were you this is seriously what I would do. Now don't be rude or anything. But tell him he really needs to do more research before thinking about breeding. Tell him to research genetics of the breedand talk to other breeders of the AmStaff. Find out health risks, problems and bad traits that can appeare in the breed, especially ones related to color. His male is only 9 months so he has a lot of time. This dog is still too young to even tell if he is even breed quality. Try to get him to be patient, patience is one thing you need a lot of when breeding dogs. Have him talk with some breeders they can give him lots of incite. They can help him the whole way through with everything. Find a reputable for a mentor and he can see about getting a bitch from them. Which will be a real breed quality dog and he will have more knowledge of what he should be doing/looking for in breeding and the mentor will be their to help with anything.
