i have read a couple of threads on here about people saying pit bulls are agressive.
but id have to disagree to a point.
ive known some pit bulls to be the most placid dogs around, and then id see a pit that would rip another dog/person to pieces in a second.
what im trying to say is that there are good and bad in every breed.
i live in australia and believe it or not jack russells are responsible for 80 percent of hospitalised dog attacks, not amstaffs or pit bulls. so it just goes to show that it depends on the owners who raise the dogs if they do a good job or not.

i have found that the smaller the dog the more agressive. I take my lab to the dog park where she has a best friend. They play and play. While they play jack russel's always come up and start attacking her!!! Its always a Jack Russel and it is always a differnt one! Those little dogs are pest or at least at the dog park they are, always trying to referee (spelling).sorry no ofense if you have a small dog, this is just what i have noticed when I am at the dog park.

All the dogs that my Windsor (pitbull) has encountered have tried to attack him. They just start barking, growling and showing their teeth. My dog just looks at them and then at me He Just wants to hide behind me when this happens. It takes a few min. to get him to walk home. Little dogs and older dogs are the most violent towards him.

I agree little dogs are much more aggressive. Maybe due to their size they feel intimidated by bigger things. I am not sure. Anyway, my son was bitten by a poodle. I was bitten by a Dachshund once too.
In the pound we once had a Shih Tzu that was so mean the other volunteer named him Tuker because she could not call him what she wanted to so Tucker was the next best thing!!

I know this isn't dog related, but we have a horse named S.A. becuase it would be impolite to call her what it stands for!

I think it has the intemidation effect on them....I guess if I was that small, and everyone was bigger, I'd be a little on the tough side as well.

I just found this site and love it if everyone could communicate about dogs it would not take long to see that all breeds of dogs can bite and for many different reasons but the main reasons dogs bite when not provoked are usualy do to their owners lack of discipline and respect for other people and their dog as well once a dog bites a person it is probably to late for that dog I beleive that if you really show your dog love and give it a good home that its job will fall into place wether that be fetching your shoes or barking at unfamiliar things dogs like to do things for you as well and if some lowlife gives a dog praise for being mean it is really not the dogs fault he just knows one thing his owner likes that so thats what he does for praise all breeds once had a purpose and at some point I think those were lost and dogs were bred for money or social status and most people that pay big money for dogs have no idea what their dogs background is that is why some dogs hunt and others protect livestock and heard so if people read about all breeds they would realize that although a Schnauzer may look good riding in your convertible they wont win any awards for most friendly dog that doesnt bark much

Hi! I just want to say I love this site. We own 2 pitt bulls and they are the biggest babies in the world! I swear our youngest cries! They are the most sensitive dogs in the world! It sux that they have a bad reputation, but it's all on how they are raised just like anything else.We have 3 children and I wouldn't trade my dogs for the world.People ask, "arn't you afraid they will turn on you"? My answer is, "NO WAY!"
