I have a 4 month old chocolate pit bull. He started losing his hair in little spots. I don't know what it may be. He don't have any sores and he doesn't scratch. He just has little patches of hair missing. It doesn't bother him. I'm just concerned about what it is. If you can help just post a message or email me. IP: Logged |

are they about as big as a dime, maybe? Just a couple? Maybe around the muzzle/neck area? Just wondering. Could be localized mange. No biggy. It's not itchy. They outgrow this flair-up IF this is what it is. If it gets worse, and where there are large areas that also may be scratchy, then you have a problem. At this point, I would NOT waste money to go to the vet. Puppies at this age all the way up to a year or so can have this. It comes, it goes without vet intervention. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I can't be of much help. I'm kindof having the same problem, & could use someone's opinion too! When I got my male he'd just turned a yr. old & he had what I'd call patchy/thin hair on his head & butt. No sores or itchy spots. Just patchy. It cleared up on its own after a couple of months. I got my girls a couple of months later. They're his daughters, (we had him neutered when we got him, but he'd been bred before). Both of the girls have patchy/thin hair too. Again, no sores or itchy spots. It's patchy & thin in spots, all over them. They aren't loosing hair or anything, it just looks thin in a few places. I don't think it's demodex, becuase that's normally on their heads, necks, & muzzles. I assume it clears up on it's own without having to spend a fortune at the vet.....Sorry I couldn't be of any help. IP: Logged |
