Is there's a distinct difference between a Presa Canario & Cane Corso, just by looking at them?? Just because i'm looking at some pictures i have, and the only difference i'm noticing is that the Presa seems a little more heavier. I'm not familiar w/ these breeds, but they've always been interesting to me. Can anyone please share some info...? I appreciate it . IP: Logged |

The Presa is a slightly smaller in size and weight. They are conformed differently. They have different temperments. The Presa requires a more dominent owner and one who is always in control. The Corso less dominent and wants to please. The Corso is more of a family dog, and really gentle. The Presa can also be a good family dog but requires a firmer owner and to know it is below others including young, small children. While the Corso is submissive and naturally loving of small children. The Cane Corso originated in Italy and their roman ancestors were used as big game hunting dogs and also as warriors on the battle field. They have still been used for hunting and also for protective and guard work along with cattle work. The Presa was developed in the Canary Islands. They were created from a native breed crossed to english mastiffs. They were sometimes used in dog fights for entertainment. The Presa was a great guard and protection dog and used as defense against wild animals. Hope that was some help. IP: Logged |
