I have added a few new pictures to my album.
http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=3059590&uid=1597348

The 1st 2 are ones of my male with that strange almost tan colored nose that can be seen under/threw the "black". I really don't know how to explain it, or why it is. I'll try to upload some more pics soon I'm just usually busy.
Does anyone else think his nose is odd? Has anyone else seen a nose like this?

I don't know what the tan on his nose is but let me just say you have some great looking dogs. Where do you show, ADBA? Again you keep a real nice yard!!

Maybe it's not a genetic thing that he has tan showing through the black? I know dogs' noses sometimes lighten up due to the environment (snow nose in winter, etc), trauma (if he rubs his nose on things a lot) or to things they come in contact with (plastic bowls can make a dog's nose lighten up). Could it be one of those things? I actually thought (if that's him as well in the one pic further down the page) that his nose was just a really dark red, but in the newer pics, it does look black. BTW, he looks to be in really good shape, nice looking dog.

Gosh they are gorgeous!! His nose doesn't really look "odd". Looks kind of red in the pictures. You really have some beautiful babies!

Yes I show in ADBA and I'm considering maybe doing some AADR shows. I missed nationals this year Really upset me, the male with the "odd nose" I was really hoping to show. The others were just to see if they possibly place at nationals once in their best shape. The red and white probably had a good chance..o well theres always the end of next year.

I'm not sure if it could be caused by something else Goob or not. He has always had a strange nose since he was a pup (since I've seen @ 4 weeks). As he gets older it seems to lighten up more, I have noticed in the winter it appears more red. But it is that same color almost all the time. I don't know if it is genetic either I have always wondered about it. Especially as he gets older and is more noticable. There is a red nose further down but its not him. Its a younger dog under a year old. The only other pic is one of him with a 1st place, his nose appears solid black in the picture because of the lighting. I had to find those two to show his nose because pics are hard to tell from. His siblings are red nose, except his sister who has the same nose color as him and then his brother who has a black nose. A dark black nose, but he is white. Its almost like his nose does match his coat when you see the color underneath the blackish coloring. His eye rims and toe nails match his coat. He comes down from down from OFRN strain with a small outcross on his dam's top side. His dam has almost the same nose coloring. Its black but appears lighter underneath. Its hard to explain because its considered black but not really dark at all. Maybe I can find a pic of her. His sire is red nose. He is a light red with white trim.

Thanks for all the many compliments. I really try to keep them fit and looking good all the time not just for shows. They take up most my time but I love them. Thanks again for the replies.

That Inferno is a gorgous dog(Im sure you know that!)
Red nose comes in different colors, ranging from chocolate to several shades of red to the tan color you describe. I think I remember folks calling it 'gold'.

This is him? http://pic6.picturetrail.com/VOL154/1597348/3059590/40054868.jpg

That's the pic where I thought his nose looked reddish, though it could just be my computer. It's hard to say why it's that color, could just be a genetic fluke that the pigment is just a bit lighter there than it would normally be.

ignergehl thanks for the compliments on Inferno. He is a nice looking dog. He is a 1/2 bro to the female Val in the album. I think he will be a very good dog.
Does your name have a meaning? I have always wondered about what your name might mean. Curiousity.

Goob I think maybe it could be some type of genetic thing since his mothers is also the same color. maybe I should check and see if any others from the line have the same nose coloring.
