HI, I have a beautiful Pitt mastiff brinle red nose .. We got her from the shelter 3 years ago , She is house broken .. Very well behaved but also very attached to me and my husband.. We made the mistake of allowing her to sleep in our bed.. We came home from shopping and found that she has urinated on our bed ! She had done this before only a couple of times .. What is the reason for this ? I also want to add that today I was staining my stairs and had to keep Brandy downstairs behind a gate for a space of time , perhaps this could have triggered this ? I know it was not done out of spite , Dogs urinate for reasons totally different than what we would think . But I would love to hear any of your thoughts on this .. She is a great dog , housed trained , well loved , probably spoiled , She is very sensitive also .. Great dog .. best I ever had .. If she is doing this while you are not at home it could be separation anxiety, I don't belive it is out of spite, if that was the case she probally would of just ignored you for a few days. I have to crate my 2 guys when I am not home because my male has severe separation anxiety you could leave the house for a few mins just to go and get a movie and sure enough if he isn't crated he poops on the floor right beside the door he will even squeeze out the tinyist kernel because of it. So they are both in wire crates side by side so that they can see eachother and still be able to see outside. When does she do this is there just certain times that she does is there anything different that has changed in her environment maybe even a change of food? IP: Logged |

Maybe she's "leaking" in her sleep? It's not uncommon in older (no, she's not "old", but she's also not a pup, either) females, and if she's laying on your bed when it happens... Could just be a freak accident, she was laying there and didn't realize she had to go until it was too late. Or there could be some health problem behind it... when our newest dog was still at her former home, she would frequently pee on her owner's bed. Eventually, she lost a lot of weight, and started exhibiting other signs of serious health problems, and upon further testing, we found out she was a diabetic. Your line of thinking with her being blocked out could be right also... she was blocked out for a while, and felt she needed to "reclaim" the bed. IP: Logged |

Brandy hasn't done this except a few times . Once I believe it was done because she really had to go and the fact that she was on the bed it just came out there .. But the other times I do believe that it was done due to seperation anxiety or attachment issues , I have been reading that when dogs are really attached to their owners and things happen that threaten them in some way they may pee on the bed .. Brandy is very sensitive , extemely loving and so much fun .. It is amazing how this powerful muscular dog is so mushy and cuddly. She absolutlely loves to cuddle close in bed ..At time's she thinks she is a lap dog and just lays right on you .. IP: Logged |
