When is a good time to spay a female? I have heard it helps their temperment if you wait until after they get their first heat ------------------ IP: Logged |

How old is your dog? Mine was spayed pretty young and she has a great temperment, It might help to do it early, it might be a little harder when she's older, because you have to watch her and make sure she doesnt jump too much, and stuff like that. But this is only my opinion, maybe someone who knows more can give you a better answer. ~Mya~ IP: Logged |

Most places will do it at 6 months. Spaying at any time won't affect a female dog's temperament. Some places will even do pups as early as 8 weeks old, but most prefer to wait until 6 months. I also agree with Mya, the longer you wait, the bigger/older the dog.... the deeper the incision- slightly longer recovery time, and the more the vet bill ![]() IP: Logged |
