I just got a pit bull from the pound on Saturday and she is about 5 months. She is very scared sometimes and then can really be playfull. We had another dog come over on Saturday and she played with him but a little rough (ex: jumping up on him, biting, but not too hard). I dont know if she is just being a puppy of has some aggrestion?

when does she get scared? does she ever cower or tuck her tail when you go to pet her? it's possible that she was abused in the past or she may just not be used to her new surroundings yet. how was the other dog acting? was it a big or little dog? just curious. it's normal for apbt's to be dog aggressive, it's important that you socialize her as much as you can. and obidience training is also very important for the apbt. it sounds like you've got a great dog. good luck with everything. i'de love to see some pictures.

She gets scared when she sees her reflection, she is scared of stuffed animals and celing fans. when she is scared she cowards down and as her tail between her legs. Not when we go to pet her. When she was around the other dog she was jumping on him and he is a lab/rot mix and he is 6 months but not as big as her! Thanks for your advise! Pics will come shortly!

if she was scared of people or flinched when you went to pet her i'de say that she had possibly been abused, but it sounds like she is just being a puppy. it's normal for them to play rough, it's also important that you keep an eye on her when she is around any other dog. she may not become dog aggressive until she is 2-3 years old. but it's normal for this breed to not get along with other dogs, especially when they are the same sex and not fixed, i have 2 dogs one is a female apbt and the other is a male fixed boston terrier, and they are best friends. thank god bc the boston is my girlfriends and if they didn't get along she would've made me get rid of roxy(apbt)because i found her, and she has had her dog for several years, so i guess he has 'seniority'. sorry i rambled a bit. sounds like you've got a great dog!!

nala-- It does sound very puppy playfulish.. however it also seems like she may be a bit scared of other dogs her size or bigger. Maybe some is out of feeling threatened or scared. Maybe she was picked on by bigger dogs at a younger age. That is the thing, you never do know, so you need to be very cautious, you need to let her feel safe and secure and also you need to be sure she is never left unsupervised around other animals. It does not sound like it is aggressive behavior as in her wanting to fight it sounds like play or feeling like she needs to protect herself. Like I said, keep her supervised, try socializing her a lot. If it does not work and she does develope aggressive fighting behavior, then completely take her away from the company of other dogs/animals or do not allow other pets at your home for the safety of your dog, yourself, the other animal as well as any other person present if an actual fight were to break out.

Yeah I guess she is just being a puppy. But when my BF crouched down to play with her she was jumping on him with her front legs and biting his neck and that worrys me. Though he was acting to her like another dog, I just dont want to take a risk. I was thinking maybe obidence school but at six months

I have to put a hooded sweatshirt on when I wrestle with my pup. He is always trying to smack me in the head and bite the back of my neck my arms and anyware else he can. He is 5 1/2 months old and he will only play like that with me, and I have to get him started. Just make sure he nows how to stop when you want him to. All I have to do is say easy and justice will stop acting crazy and lick me to death.

Anyway read his body language, if your pup does this little playful stance than you know he is just playing and you dont have anything to worry about. Justice will do this and bark his head off while were playing.
