I just got an Aussie/ Pit Mix at the Humane society. She seems more of the other bread than the Pit but Im not too sure. I have gorwn up with Labs and she is a lot different. She barks at her reflection and gets scared over stuffed animals and ceiling fans. I know she is just a puppy but my boyfriend was playing with her and she was jumping on him with her fron legs as he was crouched down and was using her teeth pretty strong? Is this her being a puppy or aggression. She is only 6 months but should I take her to a dog training school? She is very well mannared and kinda keeps to her self but she can get hyper and jump very high. She has shown no human agreesion towards me when I feed her or pet her but seems to be very shy at times. I am a new mother and I am just scared! Can someone please give me some 411 about all this!?!?!

I don't know much about Aussies, but they generally have high prey and herding drive, and tend to be "nippy" (trying to herd most of the time actually) if they do not have have enough mental and physical stimulation. Many puppies are also mouthy until they mature, and she may be teething as well, which would contribute to her behavior. I would just stop all interaction for a few minutes everytime she starts getting mouthy. Stand up and turn your back, or even leave the room if she's being a real savage. You could also try "time outs" in her crate or in a seperate room when she gets too mouthy/rowdy.

It would be a good idea to enroll her in obedience classes soon, to help you form a bond, as well as give her a chance to work her mind and body. You may find that you will want to go into a "specialty" type of training, like flyball, agility, or competetive obedience afterwards, which would be a great "job" for her.

Well that is a very interesting cross. You are getting the APBTs playfulness with the Aussie mouthyness. Good luck! LOL no really take her to training do not let her get into the habit of being mouthy because if she mouths the wrong person it will be an APBT attack

Go to training and keep her busy
