I have a question.. My dog eats any and every toy I buy for her. Does anyone know of really tuff toys that she might not be able to EAT? My brother has this problem with his pitbulls too! They tear up pretty much every toy he gets them.. Anybody know of any good toys? Also, I keep my dog in a kennel at night so that she doesnt get into anything and I would like to have a blanket or dog bed in there for her but she tears everything up.. what to do?
Thanks...
Angie

I have the same problem with my pit bull. Every toy is destroyed in 5 minutes and he loves to eat his dog bed. I've started using tons of towels in his crate, that way theres no fun stuffing to pull out. I've found that cow hooves last the longest for chewing. Have you tried a kong toy? I did and he didn't like it. I guess because he couldn't destroy it.

Hey Angie its me yet again.

I have the SAME problem. One of my female tears up every toy. Some were cheap and belonged to the other dog (not a pit) but then I had some really tuff ones that were for either of them and she hadn't tore them up yet. After she tore up the cheap ones she decided to have a try had the more expensive ones. She enjoys ripping them apart and has been this way since a pup. Her favortie is shredding tennis balls into tiny pieces for me to pick up so she can no longer play with those without supuervision. She tears up her dog bed to. I bought her two different kinds and put them in the kennel and both times to only have them shredded.

There is one toy that seems indistructable so far. That would be the Kong. I'm not sure if you are familiar with it, but its made from a hard rubber type material. You can get them at any pet store or order them online or through catalog. There is some on the site is you scroll down there are black ones. http://www.lambriarvet.com/catalog/Toys-Kong.htm?source=oveture&keyword=kongdogtoy

Also on this site but they are more expensive. http://www.pets-megastore.com.au/r2d2/detail.asp?CatID=60&ParentID=3

This is the place I get most of my dogs stuff http://www.kvvet.com/KVVet/assets/html/homepage.asp?URLCheck=1
You can click on the pet catalog, then toys then there is a link to kong toys.

Another really good toy is a basketball mine love it. I have had some puncture the ball and shake it and carry it around, but they never really destroyed it. Just played with it deflated.

I had her a toy (kind of like the Kong) but I took it away from her bc she was pulling off the fuzz and eating it. So i wasnt sure about it.

And she doesnt shred or destroy, she EATS! everything. The last toy i bought for her, i put it in her kennel and when i got home every single piece of it was gone. She ate the entire thing. A bone usually lasts her about 30 mins to an hour. I may try cow hooves like jenny said.

Thanks for the websites. The second one doesnt work though. My dog mostly likes squeaky toys. The first toy i ever bought her was a weird shaped squeaky one and it lasted a very long time. She loved it. But one day she decided to start eating it. And ever since then i cant get her anything without her eating it.

Thanks for your replies. If you think of anything else, please let me know.
thanks.

I tried towls and sheets but she shreds them and probably eats it too. So she has nothing in the kennel with her.

These toys are another supposedly "indestructible" toy, and they'll give you a replacement/money back (don't remember which) if your dog destroys it: http://www.planetdog.com

Goo has one of the orbees, and the only damage it's sustained so far is that One of the little countries is about to be obliterated from the face of the earth

EVERY pit bull owner should own this toy. It is indestructable and bullies love it.

Car tires usually have those steel(?) bands running through them, which can damage teeth if the dog settles in for a good chew and gnaws down to the bands. If you can find the kind without the bands inside, I think they're usually ok, but be careful if the ones he's playing with do have them.

As a side note, I bought one of those indestructiballs for the dogs last week, and both the bullies find it horribly boring, they played with it briefly, then upon figuring out it was just a ball, abandoned it for other things. The Dachshund, on the other hand, has become obsessed with it, and I have to keep it in my closet to keep her away from it when I don't want her playing with it. She enjoys chasing it so much that when I took her out to play tonight, she ran the ball so much in the 15 mins we were out that she rubbed the skin right off the top of her nose

My big male goes through any toy but the 'souper' kong bone. He can chew up rocks but for some reason can only take off tiny chips from this toy. He has 2 and they have lasted for years!
