my dog is a year and five months- she has never had pups, and she has had only two heats. just recently i have noticed she is producing milk, but she is not pregnant. i am not sure why, just real curious! hope to hear from someone soon- thanks.

I agree with Cali, could be a false pregnancy. Some dogs will also produce milk if another female nearby has pups. If she's not a breeding quality dog, then it would be better to get her fixed, as false pregnancies can be hard on dogs, both mentally and physically.

thanks for the replies, i really have enjoyed reading these q & a, it's been a good learning exp.- cali the reason i don't have her spayed is b/c we plan to breed her in the near future, we are waiting on her third heat cycle, she is a one year and five month pit bull, she weighs 75 pds.- she is my big baby, she is also a mammas girl. thanks for the time and advice!
