You should avoid feeding him bones. You can however feed him the soft ligament ends of bones. Avoid feeding him the hard middle. You can cover the midle with your palm while he bites of the ligament ends. Another good practice for calcium is grinding down the hard shell from an egg and mixing it in the food. Suposedly this helps maintain a good skin and supplies calcium. But should only be done every so often. IP: Logged |

you know we feed BARF and the raw bones have never hurt any dog on barf that I know of. Chicken backs, chicken necks are all part a a successful barf diet (even legs now and again). If you want we can refer you to some Barfer's forums were you can ask all the questions you want an get some answers from old timers. Carol IP: Logged |

Never give any type of cooked bone to a dog. You can give raw knuckle or plate bones, or even femur bones. With kuckle or femur let them work on it for a short while and then take away. These are recreation type bones. IS that what you are looking for or are you looking for more of a dietary raw meaty bones (as in BARF or raw meat and bones)? IP: Logged |
