Deuce is my one year old, 80 lb., male Amstaff. We have taken him to obedience training, and overall he is a great and very intelligent dog. We taught him to sleep in his own bed, not to get on our furniture, and many other things obedience wise. The only problem I have is that sometimes when I leave the house, I return to a pile of poop. And he knows that he is wrong bc once I see it he puts his head down, knowing he did something wrong. But how can I correct him so that he will stop. We have always used positive/negative reinforcements when training him...but I just can't seem to find a way to keep him from doing this. He knows it's wrong, and it happens rarely, but how can I stop it from happening? Thanks...

For one.. try walking him or taking him out before you leave.. so he knows that if he needs to go.. to go then.. If that doesn't work, a definate is crating him so he will learn to hold it (He won't go in his crate.. or at least I hope not) Another thing I am thinking is slight separation anxiety. My four month old APBT has S.A. and she has came out of the chewing and destructive thing, but if I leave her alone to even run out and get the mail which is less than five minutes.. she takes a big dump. But like I said try talkign him out before leaving or crating him.. it will give him more options.
