Hi Angel Eyes, To answer your question Give her a lot of time, positive attention, & GOOD LOVE. Call her, say her name in a happy voice. Tone is everything. If she does something wrong, do'nt get mad or angry at her AT ALL. From the way it sounds, she is already very down on herself. She thinks she's always a bad-dog, doing somthing wrong, and nobody likes her. So, use her name in a happy tone, give her treats, lots of love & affection. Just like if you were trying to cheer up a little child, but even more so. Over express yourself on how much of a good dog she is. Give her incouraging words. She'll learn to associate those words as words of comfort. She needs to gain her confidence back. Pitties are very affectionate dogs, and the previous owner or somebody really crushed her personality! So remember, don't yell or use angry (correctional) tones at her untill she gains somewhat of her confidence back. Don't be afraid to try it this way. She'll never forget how an angry, HATEFULL voice sounds like. So you don't have to be worried that she won't listen to you, and take advantage of you because your always happy go lucky. Untill she gains some confidence, only then can you LIGHTLY start correcting her mistakes to your liking (how you want her to behave). GOOD LUCK! Remember, LOVE is the KEY to a better LIFE!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

GoodboysBaddogs is right on the money with this one. Be patient, she will come around, but be positive with her, if you must scold her for something, make sure you catch her in the act, and immidiatley scold her, quickly, without hitting...dogs can sense anger in your voice. Don't let the situation linger. Remove her from the situation, and again begin to show her love. It's critical that you get thought to her now, she will come around, just be patient. IP: Logged |
