To tell you the truth most pit bulls are inbred.Thats how you get a pure bloddline. If they are inbred to close or to much, then you can face deformities or distemperment problem. The way I and my fellow breeders only bred daughter to father or brother and sister of different litters.Breeding this way,you are less likly to have problems. However one of my show pits was bred reverse(mother to son) and he does not have any problem.Matter of fact,he is one of my best dogs.I hope this answers your question. The general rule for inbreeding is that it will cause "doubling up" of many genes... therefore, it can "set" a good trait, and it can also bring "bad" or undesireable recessives to the surface, so to speak. If there was a history of bad temperament in the line, it's more likely to be brought to the surface with a tight inbreeding, than with less tight breeding (say, dogs of the same line, but not so close in peds), same goes for any other fault or problems... and the same goes for the "good" traits, too.
