If people want to make their stance on the pittbull situation they should be ready to get hammered. I don't think anyone should get banned for speaking their mind even if a little agressive. What are we a bunch of little girls. Toughen up.

Pete, I disagree. Do you listen to someone when they start barking at you? I know I certainly don't as it shows an un educated side of the person and I just naturally start shutting them out.

Since we are here to educate......

FYI the proper term is APBT, but if you prefer to say Pit Bull...atleast try to spell it correctly. Thank-you

princes....if you insist on making your job harder than need be...go right ahead. I would rather take that extra milli second and put the space inbetween the words so that I'm never bothered about it again..

Pete...why would you make a shallow comment such as "you sound like a man"? FYI I am a female! Also, I am a female that used words to break up two 250lb men from killing eachother......still wana take me on...I'm game; however, I would much rather be buddies as we are fighting for the same thing....to save the APBT breed...our precious Bullies!

Shmoopie,
They way I spell pitbull they way you spell pit bull..neither one of them are wrong.I have done research on several different website and with several different kennels. There are many ways to spell it.I just don't think it is such a big deal..It is stupid to fight over something so silly. Most people do spell it your way,but that does not make mine wrong.

Actually, If you look at the UKC website there is a space inbetween pit bull, check your papers also. If simply must use the term "pit bull" instead of APBT or American Pit Bull Terrier at least put the proper spacing. I agree shmoopie, it's a pet peeve of mine also.

Can't we all just get along...who cares how we say it, spell it, type it or have it in articles or web sites. We are all here for the same thing and I think we all know what we're talking about or reading about. Let's get back to the topic at hand already. Thank you.

Because first of all if you own the breed don't you think you should be able to spell it correctly? Also, how do you expect anyone to take you seriously about the breed if you can't even spell it?

OK Freedom, I know where you're coming from and yes a person should know more about the breed before owning one. But, personally I think to spend so much time harping on someone and offering them websites, articles etc just to correct a simple error in typing is a bit much. Because someone may not know the "official" way to spell a word doesn't mean that the person is mis guided in the proper care or ownership rules for having a dog.
I just responded to this post to bring the post back to its original topic and to hopefully help to discontinue the harshness at which the conversation was leading to.
Sorry if I stepped on your toes if you feel so gung ho about making someone feel badly because they don't know the "proper" way of spelling a word. If its so important to you - why don't you try to be a moderator for this site so you can do it and have a purpose for it. There is such a thing as going too far ya know.

If I had known I was going to be singled out for trying to be helpful in preventing this negativity - I would have just told you to shut the he** up and not care about the response you gave me. - So why don't I just save us both some more typing time...Freedom - shut the he** up!

I have to put my 2 cents in on this.Yes,most people spell pit bull this way.It is the most common, but not the only correct way to spell it.There will alway be fighting over this. For what reason,I will never understand. There are many websites out there that spell it several different way.I am talking about kennels that have been around for 50 and 60 years, and they all spell it different.
As for people not taking you serious, just because of the way you spell, that is not always true.I have been fighting for pitbull, pit bull, pittbull, pits rights for a very long time.I am always taken very seriuosly because everything that I say comes from my heart. When I stand up before a group of people, all they are think is,"Is what she saying all true?"I love it when people ask me that. They are not worried how I spell it.
I am not trying to fight with anyone. We should be ticking together, sharing all we know with each other.Because we are all wanting the same thing.

Not the only correct way? First off, "pitt" isn't even correct in the first place considering the fact that there is only ONE "T" in pit. Look at the UKC or ADBA's website and look how it is spelled. Also KatKrazy, yelling and curse words really make you look mature, really.

***I think it's best we close and drop this topic now since nothing productive or informative is coming out of it. I see posts with gramatical & spelling errors all the time (mine included ) but it is wrong to *assume the poster on the other end is uneducated or unknowledgeable.

Thanks,
Jas
