I still can not beleive how many people feel so strongly that all American Pitt Bull Terriers are vicious! Of course if that is the breed they are refering to when they say "pitt bull". Now depending on where you live there are hundreds of homes for dogs that have attacked to go In NJ there is Pop Corn Park Zoo. There is no reason for an animal to be euthinized. Now i say this with the greatest of sympathy for your late puppy, but you can not blame the dogs entirely. Now maby the dogs' owner did everything he/she knew how but like you said the dogs were never socialized. Alls it takes is asking the breeder meeting the "puppies parents", and go to the library do some research. The owner had to of known that the dogs were never around other dogs, and could of watched closer. And again with my deepest sympathy I ask, were they pure breed American Pitt Bull Terriers? "Pitt Bulls" as everybody keeps refering to them, require lots and lots of traing because they are a very active hyper breed. The AMPBT is not a breed for every one but, with the right research you can responsibly raise and care for your dog. I keep hearing "They were bred to kill and you can never change that" this could not be farther from the truth, Sheep dogs are hearders right that is what the were bred for, do they run around the house and gather up you cats dogs and children i think not. Most of you are playing off the only 5% truth of the statistics. Most So called "Pitt" attacks happen in the city were dog fighting is still going on. (by the by i am totlly against dog fighting and i think that all fighting dog trainers should sit in jail for life) Now maby the dogs that attack are not fighters but they are probably direct decendants of fighters. Research Research Research i can not say it enough. i am not telling everyone to buy and own AMPBT, if anything I am saying dont they require high maintanance a lot of devotion and lots of time. There is no reason to keep stereotyping this ,in our spoken world, defensless animal, and i am not even compare this with any other stereotype because there are none that are fair. I still beleive that it is 55% the name "Pitt Bull" that is scaring everyone, and 40% ignorance of the breed, and only 5% fact. By this I am not trying to offend anyone i would just like to defend the (Gentle Giant) the animals i love The AMPBT. If the APBT is such a ferocious breed then why is there no problen with the Bull Mastiff one of the closest relations to a Pitt Bull Terrier. They are basicly just over grown AMPBT. The stocky body enormous bark are just their man given traits and now everyone wants to "throw in the towel" on them. Well Personally i will not. Any other animal we would fight to save the species now these poor dogs have no right to live a little hypacritical aren't we. There are hundreds of thousand of AMPBT that live in peace and you will never know about. But a handfull are poorly raised and you have them all figured out to be violent ferocios beast with nothing but raw meat on their mind. And again today Kako and Spazzy are taking their daily noon nap curled up on the couch together, vicious little thing he is upside down with his tounge floped out. Sure had me fooled.

My opinion on this varies as each case is unique.

As per the story you are refering to, I feel the dogs should not have been euthanized. A dog that attacks another dog for the first time....this is a wake-up call for the owners and some form of compensation should be in order to the people who suffered the loss of their baby.
A dog that attacks and kills a Human...I say euthanization is in order....unless princess has room to help re habilitate a dog in need, but I would never trust an average dog owner to have the ability to cope with the dogs issues.

Each case is unique and really depends.

Did you have a look at the story I posted on Rocky who was put down for running out the front door and scratching a child on the face...SCRATCHED...not even bitten....some people don't understand the definition of aggression....so allll depends really

P.S. What is AMPT? I know APBT = American Pit Bull Terrier...I need to be educated lol
