My roommate has been active in rescuing guinea pigs. She even drove to LA with 5 guinea pigs cross country because she couldn't bear to give them away when she had to move. However, the smog in LA and other environmental factors have made her severely allergic to the guinea pigs' dander. She has spent a lot of money going to an allergist to help her, but unfortunately her allergy is so bad that she must part with her pigs. About two months ago, her face swelled up and was bright red and her left eye was nearly swollen shut after changing the pig's cage. The swelling lasted more than a week, despite topical medicine from her dermatologist and shots from the allergist.

I'm telling you all of this because I don't want you to think that she is someone who just wants to give away her guinea pig. She found homes for 3 of the pigs. She has two left, and although she has difficulty breathing, she wants to hold on to her boy pig because he's 5 years old and is her first guinea pig.

She is looking for a home for the female guinea pig who is 1 1/2 years old. She was rescued from a pet store in santa monica that mixed the boys with the girls. The girl was only 8 weeks old, pregnant and had a URI. Spent a lot of money at the vet to nurse her to health. The female is a brown sheltie whose long hair needs to be trimmed on a regular basis. She is so very sweet, and really deserves a home that will give her the love she deserves. My roommate is unable to handle her, and when I do, I need to take a shower because if I go near her, or sit on the couch or anything, she gets sick.

Won't you give this sweet girl a new home? If you live in the LA area, please email me at mdestouche@hotmail.com and put Guinea Pig in the subject area.

You'll get the pig, cage, water bottle, bowls and some food for $15.

Thank you!!

Your friend sounds like a very nice person...rescuing all these guinea pigs.

You should post the guinea pig for adoption on www.petfinder.com .....best of luck finding her a home.

P.S. You will have to go to the "Classifed Ads" at the top of the petfinder website if you are interested in posting her for adoption there.
