I have guinea pigs. I had been doing research on them for 2 years before I got one. I feed them fresh veges and they are in a two story C & C cage that I built. They all get alfalfa hay and alfalfa based guinea pig pellets because they are under a year old. I love them but I can't cuddle them or hold them without them pooping or peeing on me. When I bring them out for floor time they fill the whole bathroom with pee and pooh. I have to clean the whole bathroom after they are done. Even with doing all that research and spending that much time this is still not working out. Why did no one tell me about this before have. Iread and posted in many message boards. I think this topic should be apart of the much needed care information and heads ups that they give in the informational pages and care guides for people wanting to no more about giunea pigs. I think now I going to have to find new homes for them with people that don't mind cleaning up that much pee and poop all the time.

hi, We have 5 guinea pigs. for the first year of they they are poohers and peers. it seems my older guinea pigs dont go as much. we use towels when holding them and usally they dont poop out of the cage (or pee). ask the pet store about potty training. i preaty sure you can potty train them. i dont do it becuase i have 5 and i dont have time to do it. they dont tell you that they poop and pee becuase besize the fact they poop and pee alot they are great animals. but they should tell people that before they buy them. i hope you think about ways to help then just giving them away. -kyle
