I was hoping for "any" helpful tips on taking care of BiGG Pythons, as i don't know much about snakes, & reptiles in general. Also, Big Lizards/Iguanas-(sp?) Small/younger Pythons Bullfrogs I guess any helpful notes on proper handling & care when feeding & cleaning their enviroment/tanks. I REALLY APPRICIATE IT ALL!!! ~Thank You~ IP: Logged
#1SBT Member Posts: 29 From:australia Registered: Jan 2004	posted 01-15-2004 08:35 PM i have owned pythons for the past 5 yrs. just a quick question what sort of python is it. only reason i ask is because if it is an australian python like a coastal carpet python or a black headed python then they require different setups. but in general they need a ceramic heat emitter hooked up to a thermostat. they need a fluro light for their uv light, and they need their heat to have a thermo gradient which means it is hotter at on end of the cage and gets cooler towards the opposite end. I believe the Pythons that i'm speaking of is the popular Indian Python, originated from East Indies & southeastern Asia. The ones that grow about 20-30 feet long. Are there any specific pointers on handling when feeding and cleaning there tanks. I'm clueless as to how these reptiles act. The reason why i ask is because, my professor is allowing me to take care of the classes animals (reptiles). My responsibilities would be to clean & feed these reptiles. They are mainly... 2 (10-15 feet long) Indian Pythons (male & female). 1 (2-3 feet long) Corn Snake. 1 Bullfrog. 1 (18") Lizard (don't know it's scientific classification)- I'm guessing it's like an Iguana (but it's blackish/grayish) . And... No more snakes, but i believe there are about 2-3 other types of Frogs, and a Salimander or another Lizard. I basically volunteered for the job, BUT i'm actually clueless (well, don't know much) about "handling & care" when "feeding & cleaning." I'm not afraid, it's just that i don't want to mess-up, or even get bitten or hurt them or myself durring the process. I really appreciate all your help everyone . IP: Logged
#1SBT Member Posts: 29 From:australia Registered: Jan 2004	posted 01-18-2004 04:56 PM the indian python grows to about 12-15 feet long so those 2 you have are pretty much full grown, i assume they have the same heating system but since they live in the jungle they will need more humidity, this can be achieved by spraying wayer myst inside the tank. im sorry i couldnt be of more help.
