I am considering a career with animals. I was think of becoming a veterinarian because you get to work with animals and you get a good pay. I was wondering if anyone nows anything about veterinarians or if anyone can give me an email of a veterinarian that could help me. Any help will be appreciated thank you! IP: Logged |

Go to the local vet and ask them about any voluenteer group that helps with injured, sick or orphaned wild animals. If you want to receive hands on knowledge this would be a good way to begin. Plus it helps you to get ibto a good school too. IP: Logged |

I don't want to sound like a downer, and if you really want to go into the field of vetrenarianism, go for it! I had considered doing the sam, myself. I work at a petstore, and the saddest thing is to find a sick animal. Sometimes, even the easiest to sure sicknesses can bring an animal to death, and its hard to deal with. Are you prepaired to look at a child and tell them that their pet isn't going to make it? That was the deciding factor for me. No money in the world could bring that weight on my shoulders. If that is your passion- then I say go for it! I've wanted to work with animals since I was a small child. Originally, I wanted to be a vet. But, I couldn't get past the needles, blood, and other aspects of the job (such as putting animals down). I put my passion aside and got into business instead. After spending 7 years working in risk management as a senior manager doing something that I had no passion for, I decided it was time to go back to school and chase my dreams. Now, I'm studying to become a science writer, dealing primarily with wildlife. I'm currently a marine biology major, but most likely will switch my major to zoology so I can work with all types of wildlife. Good luck to you! Keep chasing your dreams! IP: Logged |

You could also try volunteering at a pet store(or even getting paid to work there) as well as the local human society, this will help you get one foot in the door. I also wanted to be a vet and these are two things that I did, however I couldn't get the marks in biology. IP: Logged |
