I have two dwarf hamsters living in one cage, one a girl. I think the girl is pregnant but im not sure because i have no experience with hamsters. She is a little chubbier right under the rib cage than usual? Does anyone know if that means anything? Do hamsters get fat??? Please help me! If she is pregnant should i put the guy in a seprate cage?? What do I have to do?? Thank you guys for all the help you can give!

hampsters do get fat but you might want to separate them just in case i'm not sure how the male would react towards the babies i do know that when you have a few a males and a few females together you end up with a bunch of pregnant hampsters.

yea separate them that would be good because sometimes the male eats the baby hamsters. The moms will eat them too if they are sick. I'm not sure if yours will eat them but it usually happens.

Hi ppl,
thanks for your help. She was pregnant and as far as I know she bled to death last week. My brother hadnt been paying close attention to her and he looked at her last week and she was still alive but had bled we fixed her crusted eye problem but didnt know what to do with her. There were no babies. Maybe she ate them when he wasnt looking but I just think she was too young and there were complications

Aww thats a shame. I'm so sorry about your hampster. About 5 or 6 years ago I had gone on vacation and a friend of mine was hampster sitting for me. She thought her hampster was a girl too so she put my hampster in her cage. Come to find out, her hampster was a boy. So we had a ton of babies. All except one survived. It was so much fun rasing them though. I gave a few of the babies to friends when they were old enough, and kept one for myself, the rest I had to give to a pet store because I couldn't keep them all. They were really cute though!
