my mom has a qual parrot and she took it to the vet yesterday and the vet had to put it in a halo because the parrot is self mutilating itself...i cant find anything on the net about parrots doing that...does anyone know anything about this topic???

Birds will sometimes pluck themselves if they are over-stressed or not getting enough attention. It could also be mites or a vitamin deficiency. Did the vet give you any input?

ya the vet did a blood test and said it was a disease cause self mutilation...could be a cause of a couple reasons...the bird is lonely...or he was a bused by his previous owners so my mom is gonna get another bird to see if that helps him out...thanks for your reply!!!
