![]() ![]() ![]() i just bought an 8 week old baby cockatiel from a lady who had an ad in the paper...the bird has been hand fed by her but when i try to pet her she moves away and she wont let me touch her...when i take her out of the cage she tries to get away and sometimes bites me...i have no idea how to get her used to me or how to get her to be a good pet...any information would be appreciated. ![]() ![]() ![]() hi, Did the breeder give you advice and carrying on the hand feeding as it should not be away from its parents are rehomed until fully weaned. For him to keep biting and to move away from you this is due to he is used to one person feeding and holding him you are a stranger also if the previous owner has hurt him while feeding this can make him abit agressive or scared. Dont rush him to come to your hand every 15-30 mins place your hand slowly in his cage everyday each time slowly getting close to him until your finger is pressed gently against his chest usually once they trust you baby birds will step onto you finger once this is accomplished you can then take him from the cage on your finger slowly. mike.
