My blue and gold macaw is 6 almost 7 years old and since we've got him he has been healthy. But mean. The last people that had him were abusing him and now he always tries to bite at me but not at my fiance. Also he just started plucking his feathers yesterday..So whats up with that?

Hi Birds pluck there feathers for many reasons.

Stress, Boredom And Illness.
Since he does not bite your fiance there is a bond between them both and the your bird trusts your fiance.
Talking alot to him and playing along with giving him mirrors and toys to play with should help stop the plucking.

Feather plucking if left can become a habit which is very hard to break.

Ask an avian vet if they can look him over to make sure there is no signs of illness or mites.

My bird started with the plucking as I already told you but he mutalated himself and he died from bleeding. Now my fiance wants to get another bird. How long should we wait?
