![]() ![]() My wife and I got a parakeet (Marcus) from the pet store a couple months ago, and he's been doing fine, totally afraid at first, but slowly acclimating to our hands, and now jumps right on our fingers, then to our shoulder if we guide him, and even lets us hold our hands around him... a bit. A friend told us we should do this often to make him even more used to us, that's where our trouble started. He'll stay for a little bit, but always ends up biting his way out of our hand, and wants to fly away. Now even when we take him out of the cage on just our fingers, he'll fly right back to his cage. He's not mean or anything, any ideas on how we can get him more used to hanging out w/ us, and not always flying back to the cage? thanks, blake and julee IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() HI, The more you handle him the more used to being around you he will become. Birds are like cats if they are over stimulated or get bored they can bite this is not meant as a mean bite but literally a warning as if to say ok had enough now i want to go back to my home. mike IP: Logged |
