First of all you shouldn't be trying to breed budgies without researching them extensively. I've researched it for about a year now and am no where close to being ready. You can tell approx how old your bird is by a number of ways. There should be no bars on their head. If there is their way too young. Also what mutations are they? Most mutations get a white iris when they're around 6 mos old. Their cere's should be a clear blue or brown depending on the sex. My BUbs is just getting her colour and she's getting it rapidly and she's around a year old now. My Sonny on the other hand has been blue since I bought him and he was about 5 months old at the time. It all depends on the bird. No matter what I'd wait at least 6 months before breeding unless they're over a year old which I doubt they are. If you're going to raise the babies I highly do not reccommend it. You can kill the baby if you aren't experienced enough. Watch and help a pro before you do it. The just as good alternitive would be letting the parents raise them and taking them out daily and play with them. But I wouldn't do that unless the parents are comfortable with you there. It can stop them from feeding. If you really must handfeed wait until they're at least 2 weeks old. You get a baby just as tame and it gives them a head start. But then again budgies are so willing they can be tamed easily and dont need to be handfed. But whatever you do RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH before you start breeding at all.

HI,6months old budgies are not mature they will breed and will lay eggs but they are usually infertile due to the birds not being mature.

The cuttlefish bone is added calcium and it helps keep the calcium levels up as egg laying takes it out on the hen.

The vitamin block helps keep them in top condition same as giving them fresh fruit and vegtables.

the problems that can arise from breeding birds is the parents wont feed them so hand raising is the only option unless there is another pair that is raising babies of the same age as the chicks that get abandonded.

Hand raising is not easy and is very exhausting as the newly hatched chicks need feeding every hour and they have to be kept at the right temprature feed shuld also be at the correct temprature too cold and this can cause it not to digest and can kill the bird too hot and this can scold the crop and throat causing the chick not to eat and die.

I would have to advise to wait until the birds are atleast 12 months old before allowing them to breed...
