My cockatiel oblio has very sharp claws...is there anyway that i can make his claws not so sharp without harming him. It makes it very hard for me to hold him sometimes because i end up with scratches all over. My family also doesn't like to hold him because of this...help

Overgrown nails can be a hazard; you can clip them with fingernail clippers, watching for the quick (vein) inside the nail. Most cockatiels’ nails are white and the vein can be seen easily. If you are inexperienced with this it might be best to take your bird to the vet and let them do it. Good Luck!

Alex our Latino Pearl Cockatiel has very sharp claws as well, We bought her a Concrete perch, it will file their nails down naturally and with out harming them. Its worked well for us. Also you can try and clip themwith dog clipper. But this can be harmful is they are cut too short or split.
