My bird is almost saying words. How long will it take before the words will be clear or will they ever be understanable to those who don't know what he is saying?

HI, It depends on how often he tries saying the words some birds usually speak sort of clear after a couple more months after first start saying words.

Even if they never become clear they will still be understandable regular chatting with him will help him along..

Males will always speek better than females. Keep working with him. He'll get better.

What kind of bird to do have? It's true that males are more vocal than females but females do tend to whistle a tune occationally. You should talk to your bird using simple words all the time. Good Luck!
