Could anybody pleaselet me know how much I should expect to pay for a hand reared African Grey parrot from a respected dealer in Australia?
Is $4500AU too expensive?
Any help would be appreciated

Yeah..I'd say you're being ripped off...African grey's usually go for $1600..Atleast in petstores they are that much,have you tried a rescue group? They are much,much cheaper..And not to mention,you'll be getting a bird that's already trained...Hand reared birds are more,but,4500,does sound a bit way to much..

Hi I have been looking everywhere in Canberra for an African Grey and no one seems to know what I am talking about. Is there a website of someone that sells these birds as I would really love to get one. I asked one bloke that runs a per store and he said they can go for $20 000! Shows how much he knows!

you are definatly being ripped off! here in England you can get them for between £450.00 to £800.00. i bought my C.A.G for £550.00
which in $$$ is about $800.00 (roughly!)
i dont know what the exchange rate for Australia is but it definatly wouldnt be 4500....or 20.000. my advice would be to look for a private breeder or even rescue homes. shop around and dont be afraid to ask questions...if you dont, you might end up with an ill or aggressive bird.
