I am considering a trade offer on my TB filly, and it is for a paint colt. He seems small for his age, he's only 1 1/2. I've been told he has Skipper W bloodlines, and those horses blossem late, and don't usually spurt til 3. I don't know a whole lot as far as western bloodlines go, am I being fed a line, or does his bloodline really mature late? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thx

I ahve dealt with a few Skipper W's that do tend to mature late, but you may also want to research this horse a little more. Being a bit on the small side may mean nothing at all. See if you can find his sire and dam size. This should indicate about how big he will mature to. Also, most late weanlings/early yearlings look pretty bad. When was he foaled? If he is a May or later foal, he should get quite a bit bigger in the near future. Don't know if this helps you out at all. Just remeber " Buyer Beware"
