We have a lovely old (35-40y.o.) gelding that is more like a faithful dog than a horse. Of late he has developed IBS and now has diorrhea each time he passes a bowel motion. We are most concerned with summer coming on that this will leave him dehydrated.
Does anyone have any good remedies for a treatment that can help bind him up (no, dry feed doesnt work!), and then help reline his stomach and bowel mucus? I have heard of slippery elm being used - but would appreciate any suggestions??
Other than the diorrhea, he east and drinks well, is in good spirits, and is holding his condition well (considering his age!).

Pls respond to comalco2000@hotmail.com
