are you asking when the best age for a horse is to start riding? or a human...a horse we usually start riding our young ones at 2 lightly then ride more as a 3 yr old then hard as a 4 yr old..for ppl...start when you can walk as long as adult is around and have nice bombproof babysitter of a horse!

Arabians shouldn't be ridden until at least three preferably four. Their joints don't fully develop until age four. MOst breeders don't even start training them until age two at which time training consists of loading, leading, saddling and round pen manners (not lounging though, too hard on the knees). They may put a light rider on them at age three but that's really pushing it.

3!!! it is a misunderstanding to start training (breaking) a horse at 2 years old. you can introduce them to the saddle and basic ground manners under saddle, but never apply weight. This can cause serious spinal injuries and a swayed back as the horse ages. Three years of age is reccommened. Start off lightly and work your way up. Never wear them out to the point of exhaustion. Just healthy workouts.

Remember, ground manners are the key!
