I woke up this morning and went to my tank (60 gal.) to feed my fish and say hello.... I usually give them flak food in the morning and bloodworms in the evening along with a little extra flakes.... anyway, when i went to the tank this morning, "puffy" was not right at the top like normal, so i was looking around for him, and saw him sitting at the bottom of the tank all pale, not moving. my favorite fish was dead. Puffy was a Spoted Green puffer, i keep my tank temp. just below 80, he was never picked on by any other fish, the only thing that i could think of, is that he was sick and i didnt know it...my black mollys have this funky white stuff all over them, couldn't figure out what it was, but it is getting better since i have been treating it with stuff for parasites....do you think that puffy could have has this too even though he didnt show any signs, and he would be getting treated also?? is there any other thing that you could think of that may have caused him to die?? I loved that fish, he is not replaceable, my mom said.."just get another one" but he was different than any others cause he was never mean to the other fish...i've got him in there with guppies and stuff, and he has not once even chased them, but he swims with them, and gets chased by them, he was great, any hints or ideas would be very much appriciated! thanks guys!

How long did you have him in that tank? Was it brackish?

What are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrIte, nitrAte)?

I don't know about puffers, but some scaleless fish/frogs are very sensitive to some meds. So this could have been an adverse reaction to the parasite med. What med did you use?

kinda sounds like ich to me but maybe not.
anyway, puffers need a little salt in the tank to do well. i had a puffer once, they have cute personalities. i saw a pea puffer about two weeks ago but i have no place to put it. if you are looking for a new one ever...i suggest one of them. they are really tiny and cute. but add salt and watch your fishes breath..its easier to catch something wrong with them when their breathing changes. also keep and eye on color and behavior. i hear puffers are prone to parasites and very often carry them and spread it to other fishys.
