Convicts are VERY aggressive. For a 30 gallon, I would only get 2 convicts and some sort of tough bottom feeder like a pleco. -Chelle IP: Logged |

That guys tank is severely overstocked. It's not just a matter of aggression, you also have to consider the size of the fish (his iridescent shark should get over 4 feet long and will require a 1000+ gallon tank). Plus there's the bioload that tank can support. The less water you have (and/or the more fish you have), the more concentrated the waste will be. Either than filter simply won't be able to convert all the ammonia (so the fish will end up dying from ammonia poisoning) or if it can convert all the ammonia, the nitrAtes will get very high, very quickly and it simply won't be possible to do enough water changes to keep them at safe levels. Convicts get about 6" and since they are cichlids, they are very messy fish (ie. more waste.) Plus if you end up with a breeding pair, they will kill the 3rd one. They will also most likely end up eating the cory cats. And if that stick fish is the one I'm thinking of, it can get well over 3 feet long and is brackish/marine. 2 convicts and a small pleco (bristlenose maybe) will pretty much max out that 29 gallon. -Chelle IP: Logged |

I totally agree with Chelle (as usual). Cichlids need a lot of space as they are very territorial (for the most part). Overstocking your tank will lead to water problems, territorial problems and death of the fish. IP: Logged |

i would get a pink con and a black con!! that will fill out your tank nicly when they grow a bit!! also they will breed if you get male and female and you have a chance at getting marble cons!!.. IP: Logged |

the puffers are aggressive, they will fin nip like crazy and your tetras won't last for long. and most puffers need brackish water, unlike the other fish in that mix. IP: Logged |

I would ditch the puffers and get a gourami. -Chelle IP: Logged |
