First of all thanks for all your help. I was on here few weeks ago asking questions and have been reading past threads as well. This forum has been a great help in getting me started. 2 Questions: 1. I'm 3 weeks or so into cycling my tank with some Tiger barbs, when I go to add more Tiger barbs, is it ok to add TB's that are much smaller than the ones currently in the tank? Will they get picked on really bad by the larger, established TB's in the tank? 2. Eventually I'm looking to get some bottom dwellers to keep the tank clean. I'll be getting a Bristlenose Pleco for the algae, but I'm more interested in the leftover food, etc. on the bottom. I really like the Yo Yo Loach. My question is, what would do a better job at keeping the tank clean, 3 Yo Yo Loaches or 3 of some type of Cory? Thanks Again. IP: Logged |

how larg is the thank? TB's should be ok to add if thier is over agresion you can rearange thier territorys. but they should school and play with eachother. i would go with 3 of the same speacies of corys they are very active and fun to watch.. they do not eat poo so you will have to gravel vac non the less. hope this helps IP: Logged |

Well I have a 55 gallon with 5 tiger barbs in it now, I eventually plan on adding 3 more, but I was just wondering if really small ones would get bullied around (One of the TB's I already have has become "king of the tank" and is quite the bullier) IP: Logged |

Patdex, I love tiger barbs and I also love corys, but I have never tried them in the same tank! A corydora can keep the excess food at the substrate to a minimum, and they are very social. The tiger is always chasing other tigers around the tank and will hardly ever allow food to get down to the gravel. I have had groups of large tigers with smaller ones and never had any problems. With TB's it always seems like the more, the merrier. I have kept tigers with severums and parrot fish with no problem. Good luck! IP: Logged |

I have had tiger barbs for 2 years now and have never had problems with food collecting on the bottom of the tank. They are not too proud to feed off the bottom of your tank. Put corys in if you want, but don't feel as though you will need them to keep your tank clean. IP: Logged |
