I have a 55 gallon tank that has been up and running for about three months. Two weeks ago I added four more fish. The tank has always been crystal clear. Overnight, it turned very cloudy and I lost most of my fish. What could have caused it and what do I do. I did a partial water change, but it's still very cloudy. IP: Logged |

cloudy water should go away on its own it usually happens when you add fish, do water changes, or change something its quite normal should go back to normal after a couple days of good filtration you have a good filter? but to prevent this ... go buy a 10 gallon tank or find an old one or something when you get new fish put some of your existing tank water in it then add the fish wait 7-14 days before adding your new fish this way if they die you can take them back and not suffer any losses IP: Logged |

How did you acclimate the fish to the new tank? If any of the store water got into your tank it probably contaminated your water and it will take a while to restore the balance. I've never used them, but I've seen products that are supposed to clear up cloudy water at some stores before. If it really bothers you, you could try one of those. IP: Logged |
