Hi everyone!

I have 4 platys and 2 cory's all very light coloured. I noticed tonite that in the aquarium on the walls of the tank and on plants there are these teeny tiny white worms. I would describe them like centipedes except a thousand times smaller. If you look very carefully you can see them moving. However I don't see them on the fish themselves - as I said they are very lightly coloured.

I've seen Ick before on my Betta and these don't look like Ick - however my one male fish is showing the symptoms of having ick.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this is and how to treat it??

many thanks!

Sounds like it might be planaria which is pretty common. They feed off of all the left over food that get's trapped in the substrate so if you be careful not to over feed and regularly vacuum your substrate, that should get rid of them.

I've been experiencing these in one of my aquariums as well. I reduced the feeding, increased gravel vaccuuming and water changes (75% per week) and my fish was just fine. He doesn't even seem to notice them. However, I do have a hardy fish and I wouldn't recommend the 75% water changes to anyone else unless they know how their fish will be able to handle it. Good Luck!

Nope, they shouldn't hurt the fish.
