Over the last month I have had a problem with snails reproducing. The guy at Jack's accidently got me one when I found it with my sharkey. It was either they are a-sexual or was already fertilized. I have approx. have 50 snails as I speak! I smash them but that doesn't get rid of the pesky things. They are all over my wall! I know that some fish like loaches like to snack on them but I have had an ongoing problem with ick- which I get every time I buy a fish from Jack's. Please help!!!! IP: Logged |

If you have a myers around you should sell them or a pet shop good money if you get rolling or you can get a red tailed shark there nice fish and you wont have to feed them -good luck IP: Logged |

Are you sure you can sell them? I actually just had my first outcropping of snails and I can't figure out what to do about it. I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy these annoying little guys! IP: Logged |

I can't see a LFS wanting to buy snails. Generally, if they have any live plants, they're going to be overrun with snails as well. Your best bet would be getting a fish that will eat them (most loaches). You can also try to remove them all by hand. I've heard you can put a leaf of lettuce in the tank and the snails will all gather on the lettuce, then you can just remove the lettuce. Personally, I've had moderate luck using a product called Had-A-Snail, but it does contain copper so you have to be careful if you have any sensitive fish. -Chelle IP: Logged |

Would a kuhli loach do any damage to a snail population? I was interested in one anyway. IP: Logged |

a kuhli loach will have quite a feast on the snails ^^ if you want to make a brackish water tank, you could get a puffer. they need to eat snails to manage their cute little mouths, so you'd have a good food source IP: Logged |
