i'm 14 an i have been saving up money for sometime now and i just bought a 100 gallon aquarium the other day. i'm looking for an arowana to fill up this tank it would be housed with a pleco and a dragon fish. i also have another aquarium that is 55 and that have mudskippers in it with a pleco and some crayfish a red crab and a couple small arfican clawed frogs. i'm looking for an arowana. please help me. it has to be in new york state. thanks

well i think 100 gals is to small for an arowana they need realy wide tanks to turn and stuff.. thier might be smaller breeds that will do fine though. well thats my 3 cents..

Hi,
I agree with CSJ.
Also note that they do not mix up well with other tank mates and should be left alone or with the ones of there own species.

Arowana's requireements are a bit different as compared to other fishes.

As they are top dwellers they require a tank which has a good height.
As they grow long ( upto 3ft ) they require a tank which is > 3ft in breadth and the tank length should be approx 2-3 times their lenght.

I'll also chime in and say 100 is too small for an arrowana. Going by raghu_gg's description of an adequate arrowana tank (72" x 36" x 24"), that would be 269 gallons. If you went with 3x the length of the fish (108" x 36" x 24"), that would be 404 gallons.
