alright today i got Kirby (the f8 puffer) and i was doing reasurch.. on different web sights they say fresh water. on others they say Brackish to Full marine... also i was wondering on the full size... i hear 5cm or 10-15 cms.... i was hoping to make its home (20 gallon) into a full marine. this would be my first try at sw.. right now hes about .5 inches and the lfs said that they like brackish untill they get older then they like the full marine setting... any help will be VERY helpfull. ------------------ early bird gets the worm! but the second mouse gets the chesse! Hey, I'm thinking about getting some too (actually just bought a new tank so I can). I also had the same problem when I was trying to research these fish. The consensus I have come to is that they do bes in slightly brackish water. You don't need full marine (thankfully)! They actually do okay in straight freshwater (that is what my LFS does with them), but they do best in slightly brakish. I don't actually have my puffers yet (I'm still cycling my tank)but I hope this helps. IP: Logged |

hmm well i have everything for marine but the light and was hoping to grow some live rocks... i think they are cool.... the puffer i ahve now is in the gravity of 1.012 and is doing great. my lfs says they can go full marine but the net says other wise or agrees... well ill try to increse selinity with each water change and see if hes alright with it. ill report back with the findings and get some straight info about them... ------------------ early bird gets the worm! but the second mouse gets the chesse!
