My 48" power compact 2x65W Coralife Aqualight arrived today from bigalsonline! What are the benefits in using the mounting brackets? The brackets suspend the fixture about 2 1/2" above the glass top. To me, the tank looks brighter with the light placed directly on the glass top. Any thoughts?

Coralife lights are wonderful lighting. I have three on my 125. The advantage to the mounting brackets is they will help keep your tank cooler. If I run all three all day long it will increase the temp on my tank several degrees. The brackets give the light breathing room is the best way I can call it.
