How do you tell if a gold fish (or any fish for that matter: my oscar) is a male or female? edited for language. [This message has been edited by Hooben (edited 03-06-2004).] IP: Logged |

Here's an article on sexing goldfish: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/4468/fishsex.html As for oscars, the only ways to sex them are to watch a successful spawning (female will have a larger breeding tube), disect them (not recommended ), and vent them. Here's a couple articles on venting fish. I've done it with a few species of african cichlids and my 2 oscars, but sometimes there is very little difference between males & females so it takes quite a bit of experience to do it with any certainty. -Chelle IP: Logged |
