I once had 60 guppies in my tank but it was getting full of algea even though I had Algea Eating fish. So I used AlgeaFix and it killed 45 of my guppies. Is there a diferent less dangerous way to get rid of algea?

Try reducing the amount of time the light is on and feeding the fish a little less. The two things algae needs to grow are light and nutrients; get rid of/reduce those two and you shouldn't have as much algae.

IS THE ALGEA ON THE DECOR, OR IS THE WATER GREEN? IF YOU HAVE ROCKS FLIP THEM OVER. DO NOT EVER USE ALGEA MEDICATION, IT DOES NOT WORK( AS YOU NOTICED). ALSO REDUCE LIGHT TO A COUPLE OF HOURS A DAY, OR ONLY WHEN YOU ARE WATCHING THEM. UNLESS YOU HAVE LIVE PLANTS. JUST REDUCE. IF THE WATER IS GREEN DO A 30% TO 35% WATER CHANGE WAIT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND DO AGAIN.

(ANYTHING WORTH DOING, TAKES TIME TO DO IT RIGHT.)

I have used a simillar product called algea destroyer and will never do it again because I beleive it was the cause of death of one of my favourite fish! I was heartbroken! I had tried everything to remove algea from my tank. Less light, scrapers, magnets, etc. I think I used less than half the recommended amount of the product because I don't like to use chemicals unless it is a last resort. Now I just do the best I can with the magnet and I take the ornaments out once in a while to clean the algea from them also. There is still quite a bit of algea in my aquarium despite all my efforts. I just decided that it was more important for my fish to be healthy then have the aquarium look spotlessly clean. I would advise anyone considering using a product simmilar to the one I used against it! The magnets are the easiest way I have been able to clean the glass though! Sorry to hear about your fish, and so many of them. We should try and get those products off the shelves at stores!

algea doesnt grow outragiosly fast, use a cloth or sponge and wipe the algea off the glass. who cares if it grows on the decorations.
