I recently got a 10gal tank with a bio-wheel filter and I have a Male and Female mollie in it now. (I know they are schooling fish but my previous tank was too small for more)I also have 3 betta fish 2 males and a female in seperate tanks with the female sharing with one of the males. With that said could I put the betta fish (1 of the males, plus the female) in this tank with the mollies, or should I keep them like they are now and just add more mollies??? Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated
Thank you

I wouldn't recommend keeping just one female with the male. She might be picked on to death by the male if there is no other female present to be picked on as well. And her chances of getting away and hiding aren't that great in a 10 gallon. However, if they get along fine now it shouldn't be a problem for them to share with your mollies.

Thanks for the advice. I tried the betta fish with my mollies and the problem was the female mollie nipping at the male betta's fins, so I gave up and put the bettas back in there own tank.

That's not really true. Obviously you can't keep bettas with large and/or aggressive fish. They also don't mix well with fin nippers such as most tetras & barbs. And they tend to not get along with other brightly colored or long finned fish.

Kepping more females with the male will make both parites happy. But if your mollies happen do breed (they are live breeders) then the bettas (both sexes) will most likly eat the offspring of the mollies so i would watch for that. we currently feed guppies to our betta ( it makes them active and keeps them heathy and happy) and they are quite aggresive when they hunt.
